Landscape Design Across the Sacramento Valley
Modern, plant-rich gardens for homes from Roseville and Land Park up into the El Dorado Hills foothills, designed around how you want to live outside.
Rooted in Roseville, designing across the region
Our studio is in Roseville, and our projects run from Land Park and East Sacramento up through Granite Bay, Folsom and the El Dorado Hills foothills. Every one of these places asks for something different: compact historic lots under old canopy, newer builds with HOA guidelines, and sloped foothill parcels that take the full afternoon sun.
What stays the same is how we work. We start with how you move through the space and how you want to live in it, and then we make it beautiful.
Roseville and South Placer County
Roseville is home base, and it is where we have designed the most. Our Roseville work ranges from new-build front yards on the west side to complete backyard renovations in established east Roseville neighborhoods, including a backyard transformation for HGTV's Crashers.
We also design throughout Rocklin, Granite Bay, Loomis and Lincoln, where many homes share the same heavy clay, long hot summers and HOA review.
Land Park and Central Sacramento
Land Park, Curtis Park, East Sacramento and Midtown are some of our favorite places to design. The lots are tighter, the street trees are older and the houses have real architectural character, so every foot of the plan has to earn its place.
Front yards often become the main outdoor room here, and the planting has to work in deep shade and full sun on the same lot. We also design in Natomas and West Sacramento.
Folsom and the El Dorado Hills Foothills
East of the valley the ground starts to climb. Foothill lots in Folsom and El Dorado Hills bring slope, wind, long views and fire-safe spacing into the plan, and El Dorado County has its own defensible space rules to design around.
On these properties we plan grading, steps and drainage first, then build outdoor rooms, lighting and planting that hold up to the exposure. Our work reaches into Cameron Park and Auburn as well.
Fair Oaks, Carmichael and Citrus Heights
Between Sacramento and Folsom, the established neighborhoods of Fair Oaks, Carmichael and Citrus Heights hold some of our most personal projects, from a dreamy backyard retreat to front yards built for curb appeal and an HGTV Crashers backyard.
Larger lots and mature trees give these gardens room to breathe, and we design with the trees that are already there rather than around them.
The same process, wherever you live
Palmatum is a design-only studio. We walk your property, listen to how you want to use it, and develop a complete plan set with hardscape, planting, lighting and irrigation notes, plus 3D renderings so you can see the design against your home before anything is built.
You take that plan to the contractor of your choice, and we are happy to point you to installers we trust in your area.

Yes. Our work runs from the valley floor up into the foothills, including El Dorado Hills and Auburn. Foothill lots bring slope, sun, wind and fire-safe spacing into the plan, and we design for each of them from the start.

An initial 60-minute consultation is $200 to $400 depending on property size and scope. We walk the property together, talk through how you want to live in the space, and start sketching ideas on the spot.
