FAQs
What areas does Palmatum Landscape Design serve?
1
We’re based in Roseville, CA and design landscapes throughout the greater Sacramento region - Granite Bay, Rocklin, Lincoln, Loomis, Folsom, El Dorado Hills, Fair Oaks, Sacramento, and West Sacramento. Virtual consultations are available for clients outside the area.
How much does a landscape design consultation cost?
2
An initial 60-minute consultation is $200-$400 depending on property size and scope. We walk the property together, talk through how you want to live in the space, and start designing on the spot. Every standard design plan that follows includes both a hardscape plan and a planting plan - detailed enough for contractors to bid accurately.
Do you build the landscapes you design?
3
We’re a design studio. Our plans specify sizes, materials, finishes, and quantities so your contractor can build accurately and you can compare bids with confidence. Function comes first - how you’ll move through and actually use the space - then we make it beautiful, drawing on styles from Japanese-modern to lush Mediterranean, always cued to your home’s architecture.
Will the plants survive Sacramento summers?
4
Yes - that’s the point. Every planting plan is built for the Sacramento Valley’s hot-summer climate (USDA Zone 9b) using water-conscious, low-maintenance plants selected for year-round color and interest.
More Questions
What’s included in a complete landscape design plan?
5
Every standard plan includes both a hardscape plan and a planting plan. The hardscape plan calls out sizes, materials, finishes, and quantities for patios, walls, pathways, and structures; the planting plan specifies every plant by name, size, and location - detailed enough for contractors to bid accurately and build your vision faithfully.
Can I see my design before it’s built?
6
Yes. We produce photorealistic 3D renderings and virtual reality walkthroughs you can view right on your phone, so you can experience the space before construction begins. Rendering pricing varies by project size and scope.
Has Palmatum’s work been featured on TV?
7
Yes. Matthew Vasquez served as the landscape designer for two episodes of HGTV’s Crashers, including “Going Hard in the Yard” (Season 1, Episode 4), which transformed a Roseville backyard with a modern shade structure, cedar sauna, outdoor kitchen, and family-friendly synthetic lawn. See the project in our portfolio.
Do you design front yards as well as backyards?
8
Yes - that’s the point. Every planting plan is built for the Sacramento Valley’s hot-summer climate (USDA Zone 9b) using water-conscious, low-maintenance plants selected for year-round color and interest.
